Building Leadership & Organizing Capacity

Hey Lorenzo, I am living at Capitol Towers Senior Housing. We have a very small group at Capitol Towers we are the Capitol Towers Outreach Group. We are trying to grow our community and in doing so have become involved in the Frog Hollow NRZ. At our last meeting we were discussing growing the NRZ and it was suggested that education was the key. Over the last few days since that time. I have been thinking about how this could be done. I remember a conversation that we had many years ago. I said something to the effect that we had to get rid of the gangs. Something like that and you said no we have to learn how to organize like the gangs. That has stuck with me. Another thing that has stuck with is that J Edgar Hoover said that the black panthers were a threat to national security because of the free breakfast program. So maybe we put together a program for Frog Hollow youth that has to do with growing food. Teaching sustainability for a start. Just a thought!!
